‘As a senior professional with a number of years experience in my field Sphere listened well to what I was looking for and sourced a number of well-aligned opportunities within the market. The process, which ended successfully, was well managed and was positively collaborative and well communicated. It wasn’t about pushing a ‘square peg into a round hole’ to receive a fee but took the appropriate amount of time and focus to find a good fit. The experience was positive and I would certainly refer them to other senior personnel who have selective role demands and service expectations’
FAQs for Freelance and Temporary Workers
What documentation do I need to provide to register?
We are required by law to obtain certain documents from all freelance workers when they register and/or before they begin an assignment. Failure to provide these may result in your start date being postponed or the job withdrawn completely. The documents we request are:
- Eligibility – proof that you have the legal right to live and work in the UK without restriction
- Identification – proof that you are who you say you are
- Qualifications – copies of any and all industry tickets, certificates and licences relevant to the work you will be carrying out
- Completed Registration Form
- Work references
All documents are stored safely on our secure database and will not be passed on to third parties. They are held solely to fulfil our legal obligations as an employment business.
What happens when I start work?
At the beginning of your contract, you’ll receive an Assignment Confirmation confirming the job role, the date the contract commences, the duration of the contract, your anticipated working hours, the client you will be working for, the site or project name, your pay rate and payment method. You will be required to return a signed copy of this document as your acceptance of the assignment.
Rates of Pay
The rate of pay for each assignment will be agreed in advance with your consultant and will remain effective for the duration of the assignment. Any overtime worked will be paid at the standard single rate unless otherwise agreed. Should the role or contract change significantly during the assignment, and you feel a review of your rate would be appropriate, please contact your consultant to discuss the situation.
Code of Conduct During Assignments
All Freelance and Temporary workers are expected to respect the code of conduct and regulations of the organisation to which they are assigned, ensuring that they maintain confidentiality at all times.
Use of client’s equipment to browse the internet, send personal email or make personal calls is not permitted at any time, and unless otherwise advised, any personal mobiles should be switched off during working hours.
You should also be suitably presented for work in line with the dress code and requirements of the organisation you are working for. For site based roles, you will also need to make sure you have the correct PPE, and if you have any questions or are unsure, please speak to your consultant for guidance.
